EHS, St. A, T-town Players Head to State Tennis Tourney

Effingham, Effingham St. Anthony and Teutopolis will be represented by several players at the Class 1A State Tennis Tournament running Thursday through Saturday with Buffalo Grove High School playing the host.

The big news is that St. Anthony's Emilee Mossman drew the No. 8 seed out of 64 singles players. Mossman, a junior, will square off against Kate Feldmann, also a junior, from Highland High School. The pair will duke it out at Buffalo Grove.

Also seeded was the Effingham's doubles team of Chloe Funneman and Lauryn Douthit, both seniors. The pair drew the No. 10 seed out of 64 doubles teams and will meet Marisa Patel-O'Connor, a senior, and Arohi Singh, a junior from Aurora Illinois Math and Science Academy at Rolling Meadows.

Other singles players are Diana Mossman, a junior from Teutopolis. Mossman will face Mia Bertino, a junior, from Joliet Catholic Academy at Buffalo Grove.

Jacelyn Street, a junior from Newton, will face Ella Marvel, a freshman from Ottawa Township at Hoffman Estates.

Other doubles teams includes St. Anthony's Allison Kowalke, a sophomore, and Averee Greene, a junior, who will take on seniors Grace Horky, and Maggie O'Brien from Lemont at Palatine.

T-town's Alli Brumleve, a junior and Jacy Probst, a freshman, will face Makynna Shaffer, a senior, and Marrie Blankenberg, a junior, from Carmi-White County at Palatine.

T-town's Nicole Deters and Julia Hardiek, both seniors, will take on Jackie Brown, a senior, and Ananya Asthana, a junior, from Chicago University at Rolling Meadows.

The tournament continues Friday and will end with the finals Saturday.
