Effingham St. Anthony and Effingham both picked up tennis victories Monday.

The Bulldogs blanked Greenville 10-0 and also claimed the junior varsity contest 9-1.

In varsity play, Emilee Mossman and Catherine Willenborg blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Allison Kowalke and Jessica Cook were 6-1, 6-0 winners. Averee Greene won 6-0, 6-1 while Caroline Deters downed her opponent 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles play, Kowalke and Greene were 6-1, 6-1 winners at No. 1. Allie Dasenbrock and Willenborg combined to win 6-4, 6-0. Deters and Cook went 6-3, 6-1 and an extra doubles match was contested with Hannah Buenker and Peyton Sehy winning 6-0, 6-0.

At St. Anthony

Singles

No. 1 -- Emilee Mossman (SA) defeated Sarah Brannon (G), 6-0, 6-0

No. 2 -- Allison Kowalke (SA) defeated Danielle Brand (G), 6-1, 6-0

No. 3 -- Averee  Greene (SA) defeated Jackie Forys (G), 6-0, 6-1

No. 4 -- Catherine Willenborg (SA) defeated Heidi Summers (G), 6-0, 6-0

No. 5 -- Caroline Deters (SA) defeated Aly Ahern (G), 6-2, 6-0

No. 6 -- Jessica Cook (SA) defeated Kyra Wells (G), 6-1, 6-0

Doubles

No. 1 -- Kowalke/Greene (SA) defeated Brannon-Ahern (G), 6-1, 6-1

No. 2 -- Dasenbrock-Willenborg (SA) defeated Brand-Forys (G), 6-4, 6-0

No. 3 -- Deters-Cook (SA) defeated Summers-Wells (G), 6-3, 6-1

No. 4 -- Hannah Buenker-Peyton Sehy (SA) defeated Anna Walker-Morgan Wilderman (G), 6-0, 6-0

 

At Effingham

Effingham picked up eight points and downed Mount Zion in Apollo Conference action, 8-1.

Lauryn Douthit, Skyler Schafer, Riley Arend, Caroline Kull and Riley Seachrist claimed singles victories. The closest came at No. 3 as Schafer won 6-0 then lost the second set 6-3 but came back strong to take the final set for the match 10-5.

In doubles play, Funneman and Douthit went 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 while Schafer and C. Kull claimed No. 2, 6-0, 6-1. Arend and Lydia Kull went 6-1, 6-3.
