St. Anthony Fifth at Charger Doubles Invitational

CHAMPAIGN -- Effingham St. Anthony High School finished fifth at the Charger Doubles Tennis Invitational Saturday.

Winning was Naperville Central 22, Downers Grove South 16, Bloomington Central Catholic 11, Danville 10, St. Anthony 9.5, Normal West 6.5, Centennial 4 and Champaign St. Thomas More 0.

The Bulldogs' Emilee Mossman and Jessica Cook captured second place in No. 3 doubles. The pair defeated Aeriel Miller/Ella Miller of Normal West, 6-2, 6-0. They won over Chrissa Dimitrakakos and Mimi Renee of Downers Grove South, 6-0, 6-2. The Bulldog duo then lost to Emma Treco and Alex Dram of Naperville Central, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 in the title contest.

Aderee Greene and Allison Kowalke finished fifth at No. 1 doubles. The pair lost to Bloomington Central Catholic's Charlie Sartoris and Carley Hundman, 7-6 (11-9), 7-6 (7-5). They then downed Cayla Risinger and Justice Hardin of Centennial, 6-1, 6-2. In the fifth place match, Greene and Kowalke won over Emily Kettering/Madeline Gentry of Normal West, 6-4, 6-4 for fifth place.

In the No.2  doubles, Allie Dasenbrock and Catherine Willenborg captured fifth place. The pair lost to Jillian Urgello and Kaylee Change of Downers Grove South, 6-0, 6-2. The pair won over Bloomington Central Catholic's Kristin Vose and Camryn Restivo, 6-4, 2-6, 10-7. Dasenbrock and Willenborg took fifth with a win over Danville's Emma Towne and Krysten Kagels.

The No. 4 doubles' team of Karlee Roepke and Caroline Deters took fifth. They lost their opener to Bloomington Central Catholic's Lily Kanski and Bella Rohrig, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. Roepke and Deters downed Centennial's Amy Paul and Grace Zhu, 6-0, 6-0 then won over Danville's Sam Perkins and Merit Allendorfer, 6-1, 6-1 for fifth.
