EHS, T-town Capture Tennis Victories

Effingham High School captured four singles wins and swept in doubles play for a 7-2 victory over Mattoon in girls tennis action Tuesday.

The Hearts' Lauryn Douthit was a winner at No. 2 singles, 8-1 while Skyler Schafer took No. 3 at 8-4, Riley Arend No. 4 with 8-7 (8-6) counts and Carolin Kull at No. 5, 8-3.

In doubles play, the Hearts; Chloe Funneman and Douthit combined to win, 6-4, 6-0. Schafer and C. Kull were 6-2, 6-1 winners. Arend and Lydia Kull went 6-3, 6-2.

In the junior varsity contest, Mattoon was a 3-2 winner.

Teutopolis improved to 2-0 on the season with a 7-2 victory over Flora Tuesday.

T-town's Diana Mossman picked up the No. 1 singles win 8-4. The Shoes' Alli Brumleve was an 8-1 winner at No. 3 while Macy Probst won at No. 4, 8-4. Nicole Deters picked up the win at No. 5, 8-1. Logan Blankeship won 9-7 at No. 6.

In doubles pay, Brumleve and Probst were 8-3 winners at No. 1. Hardiek and Blankenship combined at No. 3 to win 8-3.
