EHS Hands Newton Tennis Loss

NEWTON -- Effingham High School handed Newton a 5-2 loss in tennis competition Tuesday.
Brennan Barr took the No. 2 singles spot for the Hearts with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Colby Heaton nabbed No. 3 by a 6-2, 6-4 count.
Newton's singles wins came form Holden Kerner at No. 1, 2-6, 7-5, 10-7 and Garrett Slankard was the No. 4 winner, 6-4, 6-0.
In doubles play, Donsbach and Linders combined for the Hearts to win 6-2, 6-3. Zack Kietel and Jacob Sigg were winners at No. 2. The pair lost the opener 6-3 but came back with 6-4, 10-2 counts. Will O'Brian and Andrew Qui combined to win at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0.
The Hearts are now 6-4 on the season.
