Newton Beats EHS, Shoes Down C-W in Tennis

Effingham High School played host to Newton and the Eagles went home with a 7-2 tennis victory Monday.
Newton swept through singles play as Jacelyn Street, Sydney Zumbahlen, Lesley Woods, Allison Harris, Keri Zumbahlen and Madelynn Boldrey took wins.
In doubles play, the Hearts' Chloe Funneman and Lauryn Douthit combined to win 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 at No. 1. Taylor Boyle and Riley Arend took the No 3 spot, 6-4, 7-5.
Street and Harris captured the No. 2 spot, 6-2, 6-1.

At Casey
Teutopolis handed Casey-Westfield an 8-1 loss to improve to 4-0 on the season Monday.
Lauren Hemmen, Diana Mossman, Nicole Deters and Logan Blankenship went 6-0, 6-0 against their opponents in singles while Alli Brumleve tallied a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
In doubles play, Hemmen and Brumleve conmbined to win 6-1, 6-2. Mossman and Deters went out at 6-0, 6-2. Ali Kingery and Elizabeth Will took the final match 6-1, 6-0.
