Bulldogs, Hearts Claim Tennis Victories

Effingham St. Anthony High School hosted Hillsboro and nabbed an 8-1 victory in tennis competitoin Tuesday.
"We had two close matches," said St. Anthony Coach Darlene Esker. "Claire Wortman won in a tiebreaker at the No. 2 singles spot while we lost a tiebreaker at the No. 3 doubles for Hillsboro's only point."
The Bulldogs swept through singles play as Emilee Mossman, Claire Wortman, Allison Kowalke, Catherine Willenborg, Megan Hodge and Averee Greene were all winners.
In doubles play, Wortman and Kowalke combined to win at No. 1, 6-0, 6-1 while Maryanne Saba and Megan Hodge took the second spot, 6-0, 6-1.

At Charleston
Effingham traveled to Charleston and picked up a 5-4 victory over the Trojans Tuesday.
The Hearts split singles play with Charleston. EHS won the top three spots as Chloe Funneman went 6-0, 6-0, Lauryn Douthit went 6-3, 6-1 and Skyler Schafer went 6-1, 1-6, 10-7.
In doubles, the Hearts took the top two spots. Funneman and Douthit combined to win 10-2. Schafer and Caroline Kull took the second one 10-4.
