Bulldogs Hand Warriors Tennis Loss

Effingham St. Anthony High School swept through doubles play in downing Casey-Westfield 8-1 in tennis competition Monday.
Claire Wortman and Allison Kowalke won the No. 1 spot by 6-0, 6-1 counts. Megan Hodge and Maryann Saba went 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2. Makenzie Koenig and Allie Dasenbrock took a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 3.
"A beautiful night for tennis," said St. Anthony Coach Darlene Esker. "The first match of the season gave many girls a chance to play varsity."
Emilee Mossman took the top singles spot by 6-0, 6-1 counts. Catherine Willenborg then claimed the No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Averee Greene was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 3. Madison McWhorter and Jessica Cook won by flipped counts. McWhorter went 6-1, 6-0 while Cook went 6-0, 6-1.
The Bulldogs also nabbed the junior varsity match 12-1.
