Bulldogs Take Tennis Match, T-town Falls

SHELBYVILLE -- Effingham St. Anthony handed Shelbyville an 8-1 loss in tennis competition Monday.
Andy Saba, Ryan Kruger, Liam Hammer, Augustus Heal, Michael Kaldas and Nick Goeckner all were winners in singles play for the Bulldogs.
In doubles action, Hammer and Kruger combined to win at the No. 1 spot 9-8, 10-3. Saba and Heal were 8-2 winners at No. 2.
At Shelbyville

No. 1 -- Andy Saba (SA) defeated Lyle Jefson (SV), 6-3, 6-3
No. 2 -- Ryan Kruger (SA) defeated Emric Messado (SV), 6-3, 6-4

No. 4 -- Augustus Heal (SA) defeated Alex Macarri (SV), 6-3, 6-1

No. 1 -- Hammer-Kruger (SA) defeated Jefson-Messado (SV), 9-8, 10-3
No. 2 -- Saba-Heal (SA) defeated Collin Miller-Jacob Martin (SV), 8-2
No. 3 -- Eli Honska-Brett Spears (SV) defeated Jackson Willenborg-Kaldas, 9-8, 10-6
Exhibition -- William Kabbes (SA) defeated Ben Rudolphi (SV), 8-4
At Troy
Troy Triad played host to Teutopolis and handed the Wooden Shoes a rare loss, 5-1. The two squads played only two singles but had four doubles contests.
The lone point for the Wooden Shoes came at No. 4 doubles as Ludvig Landgren and Alex Deters won 8-6.
"This was the extra match tuneup for sectional," said Teutopolis Coach Kaye Kimpling. "We lost but had some good matches."
