EHS Beats St. A, T-town Blanks Mattoon

Effingham High School handed Effingham St. Anthony a 6-3 tennis loss Thursday.
The Hearts' Alessandro Boca claimed the win at No. 1 singles while Matt Linders took No. 2. The Bulldogs then captured back-to-back wins at No. 3 and No. 4 as Ryan Kruger and Augustus Heal were victorious. The Hearts finished out the singles to lead 4-2 as Parker Siner and Ben Donsbach picked up wins.
In doubles play, St. Anthony's M. Linders and Katz won in a 3-6 6-6(7-3), 6-3 match. But the Hearts took the next two spots when Donsbach and Siner partnered at No. 2 and Nick Beck and Noah Mulheron finished out with a win at No. 3.
The Hearts improve to 2-4.

At Mattoon
Teutopolis easily handled Mattoon to the tune of 9-0 in tennis action Thursday.
Kyele Mossman claimed the top spot 6-3, 6-2 while Joseph Esker won at No. 2, 6-0, 6-2. Noah Pals went 6-2, 6-4 followed by Alex Probst blanking his opponent 6-0, 6-0. Alex Meinhart won 6-2, 6-0 and Jacob Pals went out at 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles play, N. Pals and A. Probst combined to win 6-7(0), 7-5, 10-5. J. Pals and Seth Probst were 6-2, 6-4 winners. Meinhart and Corey Schabbing had a hard-fougth 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 victory.
The Wooden Shoes are now 7-1 on the season.
