T-town Wins Alton Doubles Invite, St. Teresa Takes St. A Invite

ALTON -- Teutopolis High School claimed the championship of the Alton Doubles Tennis Invitational Saturday.
The Wooden Shoes tallied 34 points followed by Chatham Glenwood 33, Urbana Uni High 30, DeSmet Jesuit (Mo.) 28, Fort Zumwalt South (Mo.) 22 and Alton 18.
Joseph Esker and Alex Meinhart captured first place in the No. 3 doubles while Noah Pals and Alex Probst took second at the No. 1 doubles, Kyele Mossman and Corey Schabbing finished second at No. 4 and Logan Waldhoff and Mitchell Deters were second at the No. 5 spot.
This was the first win for the Wooden Shoes in this tournament.
The Wooden Shoes also won the Edwardsville Junior Varsity Tournament.
The Shoes defeated O'Fallon in the first round 4-1 then played Highland in the final, winning 3-2 for the championship. This was the first time the JV squad had won this tourney.

St. Anthony Invitational
Decatur St. Teresa captured the championship of the St. Anthony Invitational Saturday with 18 points followed by Mattoon 16, St. Anthony 12, Charleston 6.5 and Shelbyville 4.
The No. 1 doubles went to Mattoon's Camfield/Bergsdtrom over St. Teresa's Bowers-Anselmo.
The No. 2 doubles went to Stahl-Hazelrigg of St. Teresa over Wall-Heal of St. Anthony.
Kim-Vandervoegh of St. Teresa won the championship of the No. 3 doubles over Sabe-Rudolphi (St. Anthony), 6-3, 6-1.
The No. 4 doubles went to Bornbrague-Matthias of Mattoon over Kralman-Finely of St.Teresa, 6-1, 6-1.
