Teutopolis Blanks EHS in Tennis

Teutopolis High School blanked Effingham in tennis competition Thursday, 9-0.

The Wooden Shoes were led by Christa Schwinke at the No. 1 spot, winning 6-2, 6-3. Lauren Hemmen took No. 2, 6-0, 6-3. Audra Breer went 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3. Sidney Brumleve, Julia Hardiek and Alli Brumleve all went 6-0, 6-0 in the final three spots.

In doubles, Hemmen and Brumleve combined to win at No. 1 in a rain-shortened match, 6-3, 4-1. Schwinke and Breer won 6-1, 6-0 while Nicole Deters and Diana Mossman claimed 6-0, 6-0 victories.

The Wooden Shoes are now 2-1 on the season.

No. 1 -- Hemmen-Brumleve (TT) defeated Funneman-Douthit (E), 6-3, 4-1

No. 2 -- Schwinke-Breer (TT) defeated Schafer-Boyle (E), 6-1, 6-0

No. 3 -- Nicole Deters-Diana Mossman (TT) defeated Blackwell-Emily Kelly (E), 6-0, 6-0
