Effingham High School handed Robinson an 8-1 loss in Apollo Conference tennis action Thursday.

The Hearts swept the doubles play and picked up five of the six singles matches. Winning singles were Lauren Hoekstra at No. 1 by blanking her opponent 6-0, 6-0, Claudia Vinuela-Ayllon at No. 3, also winning 6-0, 6-0, Kaitlyn Gurley at No. 4, 6-2, 6-4, Shelby Funneman at No. 5, 6-0, 6-1 and Emma Kull at No. 6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles play, Madisson Haake and Gurley won 6-4, 6-1, Hoekstra and Vinuela-Ayllon won 6-1, 6-0 and Funneman-Kull won 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.

Effingham blanked Greenville in competition Tuesday for its fourth sweep of the season.

The Hearts are now 7-4 on the season and will have their last dual match Tuesday when they will celebrate Senior Night. Seniors include Lauren Hoekstra, Madisson Haake, Kaitlyn Gurley and Gabby Klein.
