EHS, T-town Claim Tennis Victories

Effingham High School played host to Salem and picked up a 7-2 tennis victory Monday.
Emma Kull, Kyra Bannister, Megan Allen, Lauryn Douthit and Skyler Schafer picked up singles victories for the Hearts. Funneman and Douthit claimed the No. 2 doubles while Bannister and Schafer won at No. 3.
At Effingham

No. 1 -- Emma Kull (E) defeated Solene Jaspard (S), 1-6, 7-6 (4), 10-6
No. 2 -- Sydney Geurin (S) defeated Chloe Funneman (E), 6-1, 6-3
No. 3 -- Kyra Bannister (E) defeated Lexi Self (S), 6-2, 6-2
No. 4 -- Megan Allen (E) defeated Allie Baer (S), 6-2, 6-2
No. 5 -- Lauryn Douthit (E) defeated Katie McCormick (S) 6-0, 6-0
No. 6 -- Skyler Schafer (E) defeated Hailey Wooters (S) 6-0, 6-0

No. 1 -- Geurin/Self (S) defeated Kull/Allen (E), 6-4, 6-2
No. 2 -- Funneman/Douthit (E) defeated Jaspard/Baer (S), 6-2, 6-1
No. 3 -- Bannister/Schafer (E) defeated McCormick/Wooters (S), 6-0, 6-0
At Teutopolis
Teutopolis remained unbeaten by downing Mattoon 6-3 in competition Monday. The Wooden Shoes are now 7-0 on the season.
Christa Schwinke, Sidney Brumleve, Audra Breer and Molly Smith were singles winners. In doubles play, Lauren Hemmen and Smith combined at the No. 2 spot while Julia Hardiek and Nicole Deters were winners at No. 3.
