Teutopolis Picks Up 6-3 Win Over Olney, Newton Falls

OLNEY -- Teutopolis High School took four of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles contests in downing Olney 6-3 in tennis action Tuesday.
Winners in singles play were Holley Wright 6-1, 7-5 at No. 2, Allison Vogt 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 at No. 3, Cheyenne Lueken 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 and Kaitlin Deters 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.
In doubles play, Elena Breer and Wright combined to win 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 while Miller and Morgan Drees were 6-4, 7-5 winners at No. 3.
"This was another big win for us," said T-town Coach Kaye Kimpling. "Olney also was unbeaten when we came to town. The girls played so well and pulled out some great wins to get the team victory."
The Wooden Shoes remain unbeaten on the season with a perfect 8-0 record.
In junior varsity action, Teutopolis won 6-2 over Olney.
"We had some tough matches tonight but the girls hung in there and brought home another victory," said Coach Debbie Stephens. "The girls record improves to 8-0 and their next match will be Monday hosting Shelbyville."

At Charleston
Charleston downed Newton 9-0 to improve to 7-3 on the season. the Trojans swept through singles play with the closest match at No. 6 as Shelby Linder won 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles play, Charleston also swept. Newton's Mier Y Leon-Purcell put up a good fight but eventually fell 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
