Teutopolis Takes 5-4 Tennis Win Over Mattoon

MATTOON -- Teutopolis High School edged Mattoon 5-4 in tennis competition Thursday.

The Green Wave captured the top three singles spots. T-town took the next three as Trevor Lee, Jacob Mette and Christian Deters were winners. Lee won 6-4, 6-3 while Mette was a 6-1, 6-0 winner. Deters blanked his opponent.

In doubles play, Andy Mersman and Nick Pals lost the opener 6-0 before coming back to win 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1.

Christian Deters and Alex Probst took the No. 3 spot, 6-1, 6-0. The Wooden Shoes improved to 9-0 on the season.

No. 2 -- Craig Henness (M) defeated Nick Pals (TT), 6-4, 6-4

No. 3 -- Nate Stoll (M) defeated Mitch Meinhart (TT), 6-1, 7-5

No. 4 -- Trevor Lee (E) defeated Andy Vieth (M), 6-4, 6-3

No. 5 -- Jacob Mette (TT) defeated Jacob  Woodyard (M), 6-1, 6-0

No. 6 -- Christian Deters (TT) defeated M.J. Brand (M), 6-0, 6-0

Doubles

No. 1 -- Mersman-Pals (TT) defeated Henness-Stoll (M), 0-6, 6-2, 6-3

No. 2 -- Levingston-Vieth (M) defeated Lee-Mette (TT), 5-7, 6-4, 7-5

No. 3 -- Deters-Alex Probst (M) defeated Woodyard-Alexander Rhone (TT), 6-1, 6-0
