EHS Drops Tennis Match to Vandalia, T-town Beats Salem

VANDALIA -- Effingham traveled to Vandalia and fell to the homestanding Vandals 6-3.

The Hearts split singles victories taking the No. 2 spot as Megan Allen won 7-6 (7-3) 6-3. Kyra Bannister won at No. 3, 6-4, 7-5 while Tori Sims took the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-4.

In doubles play, Vandalia swept.

At Vandalia

No. 1 -- Hannah Blythe (V) defeated Emma Kull (E), 6-0, 6-2

No. 2 -- Megan Allen (E) defeated Emma Meyer (V), 7-6 (7-3) 6-3

No. 3 -- Kyra Bannister (E) defeated Courtney Ulmer (V), 6-4, 7-5

NO. 4 -- Tori Sims (E) dfeeated Gabby Dossett (V), 6-2, 6-4

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis improved to 3-2 on the season with an 8-1 victory over Salem.

The Wooden Shoes were winners in five of the six singles matches. Kaitlin Deters, Audra Breer, Lauren Hemmen, Taylor Hartke and Sarah Thoele picked up the wins.

In doubles action, Christa Schwinke and Breer combined to win 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Deters and Hemmen won 6-1, 6-1. Allison Apke and Claire Hemmen were winners at No. 3, 6-2, 6-0.
