T-town Second at Mattoon Invite, St. A Competes At Bloomington

MATTOON -- Teutopolis High School captured second place in the Mattoon Girls Tennis Invitational Saturday.
Mattoon won its own meet with 46 points followed by Teutopolis 29.5, Charleston 29, Mount Zion 28, Champaign St. Thomas More 25.5, Olney 22, Mattoon No. 2 15, Casey-Westfield 11, Shelbyville 9, Effingham 5, Salem 5, Mount Zion JV 4 and Rantoul 0.
"We finished much better than I anticipated," said T-town Coach Kaye Kimpling. "I was extremely pleased with how the girls played."
T-town's Kaitlin Deters took third at the No. 1 singles while Audra Breer and Christa Schwinke were third in No. 1 doubles.
At Mattoon Invitrational

St. Anthony competed in the Bloomington Purple Invitational. Mary Claire Wegman picked up two victories and suffered two losses at the No. 2 singles spot. Kelly Rentfrow went 1-2 at No. 1.
In doubles play, the Bulldogs lost twice in each of the three doubles matches.
Belleville West won the 16-team title with 38 points followed by Belleville East with 29.
