T-town Ties For Ninth, EHS 13th at Tennis Invite; St. A Competes At Springfield

Teutopolis High School finished tied for ninth and Effingham finished tied for 13th in the Edwardsville Heather Bradshaw Tennis Invitational Saturday.
St. Joseph Academy won followed by Edwardsville/Peoria Christian, Belleville Althoff, Mascoutah, tie for fifth with Ursuline and Flora, tie for seventh with Waterloo and O'Fallon, tie for ninth with Teutopolis and Marion, Mount Carmel, Highland, tie for 13th with Effingham and Metro East Lutheran, Mahomet-Seymour and Peoria Richwoods.
"I was pleased with the girls efforts," said T-town Coach Kaye Kimpling. "They have really progressed in their playing ability and confidence in one week's time. They are getting better each match."

In doubles, Tierney Hammer and Mary Claire Wegman went 1-2 at No. 1 doubles. Madison McWhorter-Maryann Saba was 3-1 at No. 2 doubles to finish in fifth place in their flight.
