EHS Blanks Mt. Vernon; St. A, T-town Also Claim Tennis Victories

Effingham High School played host to Mount Vernon and blanked the Rams 9-0 in tennis competition Thursday.
The Hearts swept through singles play with the closest match at No. 1 as Wyatt Wohltman won 7-5, 7-5. Isaac Foreman claimed 6-3, 6-2 wins while Jared Minor won 6-1, 6-2. Aaron Meyers took his match 6-0, 6-2. Parth Maheshwari blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 and Jason Wohltman finished out with a 6-0, 6-1 win.
In doubles play, Foreman and Meyers won 6-0, 6-1 while Minor combined with J. Wohltman to win 6-0, 6-2. Drake Hill and Aaron Conley combined to win 6-2, 6-0.
The Hearts are now 7-0 on the season and are back in action Saturday in the Robinson Doubles Tournament.
At Effingham

At Greenville
Effingham St. Anthony pushed its mark to 10-1 with a 7-2 win over Greenville Thursday.
Frank Jansen won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles while Scott Rentfrow claimed a 7-6, 7-5 win over No. 2. Jay Niebrugge was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 3. Alec Niebrugge claimed a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 while Chris Jones won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 and Ian Harris won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 6.
In doubles, the lone Bulldogs point came at No. 1 as Rentfrow and Niebrugge blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
St. Anthony is back in action Monday hosting Flora.

Teutopolis took four of the six singles matches and all three doubles contests in an 8-2 win over Robinson.
The Shoes' Andy Mersman won at No. 1, 6-4, 6-0. T-town then swept No. 4 through No. 6 as Trevor Lee won 4-6, 6-1, 6-3, Jacob Mette won 6-0, 6-2 and Nick Ruholl won 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles play, Nick Pals and Mersman combined to win 7-6 (5), 6-4. Jay Funneman combined with Keith Weber to win 6-7 (5), 6-4 , 6-2 and the Lee-Mette combination went 6-0, 6-2.
The Shoes are now 8-2 on the season.
