Effingham St. Anthony hosted Champaign St. Thomas More and sent the visitors home with a 5-4 loss in tennis competition Wednesday.
The two squads split singles wins. St. Anthony's Jay Niebrugge took the No. 2 win, 6-0, 6-1 while Scott Rentfrow claimed No. 3, 6-2, 6-1. Alec Niebrugge was the No. 4 winner, 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles play, Niebrugge and Rentfrow combined at No. 1 to win in three sets, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3. Then the match went to another three-set win as Frank Jansen and A. Niebrugge combined to win 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
The Bulldogs are now 10-1 on the season.
