EHS Downs T-town, St. A Beats Highland In Tennis

Effingham High School kept rolling along and remained unbeaten with an 8-1 victory over Teutopolis in tennis action Tuesday.
T-town's Kyle Brumleve won the top singles spot with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. But the Hearts swept the next five matches as Isaac Foreman, Jared Minor, Aaron Meyers, Parth Maheshwari and Jason Woltman claimed victory. Foreman and Minor went three sets to pull out the wins. Foreman lost the opening set 6-2 but came back with 7-5, 7-6 wins. Minor also lost the opening set 6-3 then rallied to win 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles play, EHS swept through as Foreman and Meyers combined to win 6-2, 4-6, 7-6. Minor and J. Wohltman were 6-3, 6-1 winners while Maheshwari and W. Wohltman won 6-1, 6-2.
The Hearts improve to 6-0 on the season while T-town drops to 7-3.

At Highland
Effingham St. Anthony claimed a 7-2 victory over Highland to improve to 9-1 on the season.
The Bulldogs took the No. 2 through No. 5 singles spots. Scott Rentfrow won 6-0, 6-3 while Jay Niebrugge claimed the victory 6-1, 6-0. Alec Niebrugge went 7-5, 6-1 and Chris Jones lost the opener 6-1 but came back with 6-0, 6-4 victories.
The Bulldogs went through doubles play without a hitch. Rentfrow-Jay Niebrugge won 6-3, 6-4 while Ian Harris and Luke Jansen claimed 6-3, 6-2 victories. Frank Jansen and Jeff Niebrugge won 6-0, 7-5.
