EHS FInishes Sixth, T-town Seventh, St. A Eighth In Tennis Invitationals

BELLEVILLE -- Effingham High School captured sixth place out of 16 teams in the Belleville East Tennis Invitational Tournament Saturday.

Belleville East A won the tournament followed by Alton, Normal Community, Peoria Richwoods, O'Fallon, Effingham, Belleville East B, Belleville West, Quincy, Carbondale, Centralia, St. Louis Chaminade, Edwardsville B, Quincy Notre Dame, Highland and Granite City.

In the No. 1 doubles, Isaac Foreman and Aaron Meyers took fifth place. Jared Minor and Jason Woltman finished sixth at  No. 2. Parth Maheshwari and Wyatt Wohltman were fifth at No. 3.

In singles play, Foreman took fifth place at No. 2 while Minor was fifth at No. 3. Aaron Meyers took fifth place at No. 4, Maheshwari fifth at No. 5 and Wohltman fifth at No. 6.

"The guys played very well in this prestigious tournament with all improving their games along the way," said EHS Coach Greg Brumleve.

Champaign Invitational

St. Anthony took eighth place out of 16 teams in the Champaign Invitational. Champaign Centennial Blue won with 33 points followed by Morton 31, Warren Gurnee 25, Champaign St. Thomas More 22, Troy Triad 18 1/2, Bradley Bourbonnais 18, Teutopolsi 15 1/2,  St. Anthony 11 1/2, McHenry 11, Mattoon 10 1/2, Charleston 10, Bloomington Central Catholic 7 1/2, Pontiac 6 1/2,  Centennial White 4, Urbana 3 and Rock Island 2.
