EHS, St. A, T-town Claim Tennis Victories

Effingham High School opened the tennis season with a 7-2 win over Robinson Thursday evening.
The Hearts captured five of six singles victories as Isaac Foreman, Aaron Meyers, Wyatt Wohltman, Parth Maheshwari and Jason Wohltman were winners.
In doubles play, EHS took the No. 1 spot as Foreman and Meyers won 6-0, 6-1 and the No. 3 spot as Drake Hill and Aaron Conley won 6-2, 6-1.
At Effingham

No. 1 -- Brennan Buchanan (R) defeated Jared Minor (E), 3-6, 6-1, 6-2
No. 2 -- Isaac Foreman (E) defeated Dylan White (R), 6-0, 6-2
No. 3 -- Aaron Meyers (E) defeated Curtis White (R), 6-4, 4-6, 6-2
No. 4 -- Wyatt Wohltman (E) defeated Tom Goodman (R), 6-3, 6-1
No. 5 -- Parth Maheshwari (E) defeated Nick Sandschafer (R), 6-0, 6-4
No. 6 -- Jason Wohltman (E) defeated David Jenkins (R), 6-1, 6-0

No. 3 -- Drake Hill-Aaron Conley (E) defeated Sandschafer-Jenkins (R), 6-2, 6-1
St. Antthony 5, Mount Zion 4
Effingham St. Anthony edged Mount Zion to improve to 3-0 on the season.
In singles action, the Bulldogs captured the top three spots as Frank Jansen won 6-1, 6-2, Scott Rentfrow won 6-3, 6-2 and Jay Niebrugge won 6-0, 6-0. The Braves then took the next three spots to tie the score at 3-3.
In doubles play, St. Anthony nabbed the No. 1 spot as Rentfrow-Nierbrugge won 6-1, 6-3. Mount Zion took the No. 1 spot. F. Jansen and Harris then won at No. 3 in a tough 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 match to pull out the victory for the Bulldogs.
St. Anthony will be back in action Saturday in the Troy Triad Invitational.

Teutopolis bounced Paris 9-0 to improve to 2-0 on the season Thursday.
The Shoes swept through singles play. Kyle Brumleve won 6-1, 6-1 while Andy Mersman claimed a 6-2, 7-5 win. Nick Pals blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0. Mitch Meinhart won 7-5, 6-1 while Trevor Lee won 6-3, 6-1. Jacob Mette then blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
In doubles play, Mersman and Keith Weber won 6-0, 6-1. Jay Funneman and Meinhart were 6-0, 6-3 winners. Mette and Lee combined to win 6-1, 6-1.
