ROBINSON -- Effingham St. Anthony High School handed Robinson a 7-2 tennis loss in competition Tuesday evening.
Frank Jansen picked up the No. 1 singles victory 7-6, 6-1. Scott Rentfrow won at No. 3, 6-3, 7-5 while Alec Niebrugge took No. 4 7-5, 6-7 (10-4). Jeff Niebrugge rounded out the singles wins 6-4, 7-5.
In doubles play, the Bulldogs swept as Rentfrow/J. Niebrugge won 6-3, 6-1 while F. Jansen and Ian Harris won 7-5, 6-4. Luke Jansen and Benton Hakman claimed the No. 3 spot 3-6, 7-6 (8-6).
"Tonight was a real team effort, winning four singles and all three doubles," said St. Anthony Coach Joe Reynolds. "Frank Jansen's straight set win over last season's IHSA sectional finalist, Brennan Buchanan, at No. 1 singles was very significant."
The Bulldogs are back in action Monday hosting Mount Zion.
