FAIRFIELD -- Altamont High School's Grace Lemke recorded her 800th career strikeout in the second inning of her team's 1-0 victory over Fairfield in softball action Monday.

Lemke currently has 816 strikeouts in her career and picked up another pitching win. She allowed one hit, two walks and struck out 20 batters

Meanwhile, Altamont had five hits led by Ella Nelson with two singles and Avery Fleeharty with what would prove to be the game winning single, knocking in the run. Laila Hankins and Sophia Long had a single each.

The winning run came in the fifth inning as Altamont improved to 4-0.

Fairfield's lone hit was a single by O. Smith. The Mules dropped to 3-1 on the season. Hunter Kirk picked up the loss on the mound. She went all seven inings, allowing one run on five hits, three walks while striking out five.

Altamont returns to acton today, traveling to National Trail Conference opponent North Clay/Clay City for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

At Cowden

 Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City as two National Trail Conference teams met Monday, 10-0.

The Hatchets broke loose with a six-run second, tacked on three in the third and finished with one in the fourth as the game ended by the 10-run rule after five.

Samantha Hays went three innings for the win on the mound. She gave up two hits and struck out eight. Kendra Hayes came on to finish the last two innings, allowing two hits, and struck out four.

Meanwhile, Windsor/Stew-Stras had nine hits led by Ellie Wittenberg with a single and triple, Zaida Wascher with two singles and two RBI, Mya Friese with two singles and an RBI, S. Hayes with a double and three RBI, Katelyn VonBehrens with a single and two RBI and K. Hayes with a single and an RBI.

CHBC was led by Ryleigh Sarver with a double and Macee Rodman with a double.

Dieterich High School's Allison Boerngen threw a no-hitter as the Movin' Maroons blanked St. Elmo/Brownstown, 15-0 in four innings Monday.

Boerngen went the four innings, giving up one walk and striking out one.

Meanwhile, she aided her own cause with a double and an RBI while Ella Kreke had a single and double, Aliza Garner a double and four RBI, Lydia Wohltman with a double and two RBI and Kinley Will with a double. Lucie Jansen had a single and two RBI and Brittney Niemerg added a single and an RBI.

St. Elmo/Brownstown's Alivia Claycomb drew the lone walk.

Newton took a 2-0 opening inning lead and went on for a 12-1 victory over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond by the 10-run rule in five innings Monday.

Both teams finished with seven hits but ALAH had four errors.

The Eagles' Amelia Collins went four innings on the mound. She gave up one run on five hits, no walks while striking out seven.

Karly Deckard came on to throw the final inning, allowing two hits and striking out one.

Allie Herrmann led offensively with a single, double and two RBI. A. O'Dell added a double. Camryn Martin, Sally Mahaffey and Audrie Reich had a single and two RBI each.

South Central fell to visiting Mulberry Grove by a 1-0 count Monday.

The lone run of the contest came in the third inning. Lily Johnson threw the one-hitter giving up two walks while striking out 12.

Mulberry Grove had seven hits.

Both pitchers were Johnson's for each team. Lily Johnson for Mulberry Grove and Lauren Johnson for South Central.

The Cougars lone hit was a single by Perci Reid.

The Wildcats' Breanna Thurman threw a no-hitter, giving up three walks and striking out 13.

Olivia Roley drew two walks while Kayleigh Zerrusen walked once for the Shoes.
