EHS' Jerry Trigg Named to ICA Softball Hall Of Fame

Effingham High School Coach Jerry Trigg has been named to the Illinois Coaches Association Softball Hall of Fame.

Trigg will be honored at the annual banquet February 16 at The Chateau in Bloomington.

Social hour will begin at 11 a.m. with lunch served at 11:30. The banquet ends around 2:45 p.m.

Trigg was named along with Chris Walker (Putnam County), Leonard Sementi (Tuscola), April Schwermann (Normal West) and Jen Schafer (Illini Bluffs).

Named to the ICA Softball Hall of Fame as umpires were James Marshall, Tom Starr, Jay Madalon, Mike Naranjo, Dan Micucci and Jon Carls.

The ICA Sportsman of the Year is Jim  Teckenbrock of WSPY Radio.

Area coaches who were named as the IHSA Sectional Coaches of the Year were:

In 2A, Sectional 7 -- Makayla Taylor (Effingham St. Anthony) and Sectional 4 -- Sara Beam (Newton).
