FLORA -- Effingham Junior High School won both games at the Flora Round Robin Softball Tournament Saturday.

Effingham edged host Flora by a 12-11 count and also edged Teutopolis by a 10-9 tally.

In the Flora contest, Effingham had nine hits led by Kenley Moore with a single, triple and an RBI,  Mady Hoffman with a double and three RBI, Miley Wilson with a double and an RBI , Elizabeth Kreke with two singles and two RBI and Cloie Bailey and Kendyl Smith with a single and an RBI each.

Kreke picked up the pitching win, giving up 13 hits, walking two and striking out three.

In the contest against Teutopolis, Effingham held a 2-1 lead after three innings. T-town moved ahead with seven runs in the fourth but Effingham tallied two in the fifth and four in the sixth to tie the score at 8-8. The Shoes moved ahead in the top of the seventh by a run only to see the Mustangs come back with three runs to pull out the victory.

Effingham had 15 hits. Bailey had two singles, a double and two RBI, Liv Koester two singles, a double and one RBI, Hoffman a single double and four RBI, Wilson a single, double and two RBI, April Martin two singles and a double, Kreke a single and an RBI and Alayna Wade an RBI.

Bailey went the distance on the mound, giving up nine runs on 10 hits, two walks and striking out five.

Only first names were listed for Teutopolis.

In a Monday contest, Effingham was a 12-6 winner over Charleston.

The Mustangs trailed Charleston by a 3-1 count going into the fourth then scored six runs, tacked on three in the sixth and finished with two in the seventh.

Effingham had an 18-hit attack led by Koester with two singles, a triple, a home run and three RBI, Hoffman two singles, a home run and four RBI, Martin a double, home run and two RBI, Bailey two singles and a double, Kreke and Mackynzie Hites with two singles and an RBI each and Wilson a single and an RBI.

Kreke went the distance, allowing six runs on eight hits, two walks while striking out seven.

South Central won its fown Lady Falcon Tournament.

At Kinmundy

South Central won its own Lady Falcon Tournament by beating Vandalia and Dieterich Saturday.

South Central was an 8-1 winner over Vandalia behind five hits and five Vandalia errors.

The Falcons broke a 1-1 opening inning tie with two runs in the third, then tacked on four in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Emmie Ruholl had a single and triple while Kyndl Bolen had a triple and an RBI and Skylar Webster a single and two RBI. Annie Ruholl added a single and an RBI.

Ruholl also was the winner on the mound, going all seven innings, allowing one run on two hits, two walks while striking out 10.

South Central then defeated Dieterich 12-5 behind an 11-hit attack.

Dieterich held a 5-3 lead after five innings. South Central came back with a run in the sixth then broke loose for eight runs in the seventh.

The Falcons were led by A. Ruholl with three singles and two RBI, Rylan Williams a single and double, E. Ruholl a single, double and an RBI, Webster and Bolen a single and two RBI each and Claire Chasteen a single and an RBI. Alexa Gile added an RBI.

Williams took the win on the mound. She allowed five runs on five hits, six walks and struck out eight.

Dieterich was led in hitting by Lydia Kreke with two singles and an RBI, Clarie Faller with a single and double, Kensi Stortzum with a double and Mackenzie Roedl with an RBI.

Dieterich captured a 9-1 victory over Vandalia.

Dieterich took a 1-0 opening inning lead, then tacked on four in the second, three in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Ava Benefiel led the hitting attack with three singles while Roedl had two singles and an RBI and Faller a double. Emery Bill added a single and an RBI and Kreke an RBI.

Kreke went the distance allowing one run on three hits, one walk while racking up 10 strikeouts.

At Stillman Valley

Neoga banged out 12 hits and scored 12 runs in a 12-1 victory in five innings over Meridian Saturday.

The winners had 12 hits led by Chloe Frankie with three singles and a triple, Lillian Denson two singles and five RBI, Keeli McKay two singles and two RBI and Reyna Coy and Lola Hartke with a single and an RBI each. Maleah Coy added an RBI.

M. Coy went the five innings allowing one run on three hits, one walk and striking out five.

Neoga defeated Tri-County 6-2 in five innings.

Tri-County held a 2-0 lead until the fourth when Neoga tied the game then tallied four in the fifth.

C. Frankie had a single and triple while R. Coy had two singles and an RBI and M. Coy and EmmaRee McTeer a single and an RBI each. Keeli McKay added an RBI.

Lola Hartke was the winning pitcher. She went four innings, giving up two runs on two hits, two walks and four strikeouts.

At Mount Zion

Cumberland fell to Mount Zion, 8-7 in a Friday contest.

The Raiders took a 3-0 opening inning lead but Mount Zion came back to move ahead 4-3 in the third. Cumberland held a 7-6 lead in the fifth but Mount Zion tallied two more for the 8-7 lead and the win.

Cumberland had five hits led by Brittlin Murphy with two singles.
