Effingham blanked Casey-Westfield 6-0 in a junior high softball contest Thursday.

The Mustangs edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead then tacked on three more in the second and single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Effingham banged out 13 hits in the contest led by Mackynzie Hites with two singles and a triple, Cloie Bailey with three singles, Mady Hoffman with a double and two RBI, Miley Wilson with a double and Alayna Wade with a single and an RBI.

Bailey picked up the pitching win. She went all seven innings, allowing no runs on two hits, three walks and striking out eight.

At Casey

At Mattoon

Neoga finished with 12 hits while Lillian Denson and Maleah Coy held St. John's Lutheran to two hits in a 10-3 victory Thursday.

St. John's held a 2-1 lead after two innings. But Neoga moved ahead 3-2 in the third and never looked back.

Denson had two singles, a home run and three RBI while Maddi Frankie hit a single, home run and drove in three and M. Coy had two doubles and an RBI. Cecilia Chardon chipped in with two singles and Chloe Frankie added a triple.

Denson was the winning pitcher behind three innings of one-hit ball. She gave up three walks and struck out six. M. Coy threw the final four innings, allowing one run on one hit, two walks and striking out seven.

Dieterich ended this game in the sixth inning via the 10-run rule by an 11-1 count over Cisne/Geff Thursday.

Lydia Kreke kept Cisne/Geff off the bases with 14 strikeouts and finished with a one-hitter and allowing only one walk.

Meanwhile, Dieterich had nine hits led by Emery Bill and Kreke with a single, triple and an RBI each. Claire Faller and Mackenzie Roedl added two singles and an RBI each. Kensi Stortzum had a single and an RBI and Kyla Tegeler and Ava Benefiel had an RBI each.

St. Elmo/Brownstown downed North Clay, 30-2 in three innings Thursday.

SEB tallied seven runs in the first and seven in the second before scoring a whopping 16 runs in the third.

Brooklyn Buxton had a two singles and a home run. Auni Wollin, Emily Townsend, Parker Haslett and Melanie Shick had two singles each.

Claire Chasteen threw a one-hitter as South Central blanked Patoka by a 15-0 count Thursday.

Chasteen went the distance, allowing one hit, two walks while striking out nine.

Meanwhile, the Falcons had eight hits led by Kyndl Bolen with a triple, Skylar Webster with a double and two RBI, Rylan Williams with a double, Alex Gile and Emmie Ruholl with a single and two RBI each, Annie Ruholl with a single and an RBI and Zoey Kramer with an RBI.

Jasper County had 11 hits led by Scarlett Meinhart with a single, two doubles and two RBI, Mabry Wolf with a single, double and three  RBI and Khloee Copper with a single, double and an RBI.

Hailey Mulvey was the winning pitcher, throwing five innings, allowing no runs on three hits, one walk while striking out nine.
