ALTAMONT -- St. Elmo/Brownstown outlasted Altamont in a big-scoring junior high softball contest, 17-14 Tuesday.

SEB ran out to an 8-1 opening inning lead, then pushed it to 14-6 after three innings. The lead went to 17-6 in the top of the fifth before Altamont mounted a comeback, scoring seven runs only to fall short.

Along with the 17 runs were 17 hits for the winners. B. Buxton had a single, two triples and three RBI while K. Speagle had two singles, a double and three RBI and I. Orr had two singles, a double and an RBI. E. Townsend added two singles and two RBI, N. Scott a double and an RBI and P. Haslett, M. Shick and M. Claycomb a single and an RBI each.

Orr threw five innings for the win. She gave up 13 runs on eight hits, seven walks while striking out six. K. Speagle ended the final two innings, giving up one run on one hit, one walk and striking out one.

Altamont finished with nine hits but had nine errors in the contest. Teegan Burrus had two singles, a double and three RBI. Kara Bauer added a triple and Mary Tappendorf and Blaire Suckow had a double each. Tappendorf added two RBI. Payton Ort had two singles and two RBI and Olivia Bowman a single and two RBI. Adelita Ruffner finished with one RBI.

At Dieterich

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg brought home 16 runs in a 16-7 victory over Dieterich Tuesday.

The Hatchets held a 2-0 opening inning lead then tacked on four in the second. Dieterich scored a run in the third before WSS had two more in the fourth. Dieterich pulled within 9-7 in the fifth but the Hatchets put the game on ice with seven runs in the sixth.

Both teams had nine hits but Dieterich committed six errors.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Kinsley Dunaway with a single, double, triple and three RBI, Addisyn Clark with a single, double and two RBI, Reese Stigers with a double, Kalia Friese with two singles and Arora Rincker with a single and two RBI.

Friese went five innings for the win, allowing seven runs on eight hits, six walks and striking out six.

Dieterich was led by Claire Faller with a double, home run and two RBI while Lydia Kreke had three singles and an RBI and Ava Benefiel with a double and an RBI. Mackenzie Roedl added a single and an RBI.
