ALTAMONT -- Altamont played host to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in junior high softball action Friday and claimed a 14-5 victory.

Altamont edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then tallied four in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth and six in the fifth.

The winners had seven hits led by Teegan Burrus with a single, two triples and an RBI and Payton Ort with a double.

Blaire Suckow went the distance on the mound, giving up five runs on four hits, four walks and striking out nine for the victory.

The Bobcats were led by Reece Vaughn with a triple and two RBI, Anna Hart with two singles and two RBI and Mila Wakefield with a single and an RBI.

At Altamont

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown claimed a 12-8 victory over Dieterich Friday.

SEB took an 8-2 opening inning lead and held off Dieterich.

Auni Wollin led the offensive attack with a single, triple and an RBI while Isabelle Orr and Kadence Speagle had a triple each. Orr finished with two RBI. Brooklyn Buxton had two singles. Melanie Shick finished with three RBI and Parker Haslett one RBI.

Dieterich was led by Lexie Funneman with a triple and three RBI, Emma Williams witjh a single and two RBI and Nora Wente with a single and an RBI. Kensi Stortzum added an RBI.

Orr picked up the pitching win, going the first three innings, allowing seven runs, on two hits, seven walks and striking out four. Speagle came on to finish the final four innings, allowing one run on two hits, one walk and striking out four.

At St. Elmo

At Neoga

In a Friday contest, Neoga edged Cumberland by a 2-1 count.

Both teams had five hits but Cumberland finished with three errors.

Neoga scored both runs in the third inning as Maleah Coy held off the Raiders on the mound. She went all seven innings, giving up one run on five hits, one walk while striking out nine.

Chloe Frankie had a single and drove in a run for the winners.

Cumberland's Kyndall Strohl had a great game on the mound in the loss. She went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits, one walk while striking out 10.

Cumberland was led by Lilly McMechan with a single and an RBI.

At Neoga

Saturday Games

Effingham finished with 13 hits in a 12-4 victory over Cumberland Saturday.

The Mustangs edged out to a 3-1 opening inning lead and went on to finish with the win.

Elizabeth Kreke led the offensive onslaught with a single, double, home run and four RBI. Liv Koester added a single and double while Mady Hoffman and MacKynzie Hites finished with two singles and two RBI each. April Martin had two singles and an RBI and Miley Wilson a single and an RBI.

Kreke also was the winner on the mound, allowing four runs on seven hits, two walks while striking out 13.

Cumberland was led by Josie Smith with two singles, a double and an RBI and Brittlin Murphy with a single, triple and two RBI.

At Toledo

St. Anthony fell to Paris Crestwood Saturday by a 16-0 tally in three innings. Crestwood scored five in the first and 11 in the second.

The Bullpups had one hit, a single by Nina Semple.
