NEOGA -- Neoga ran out to a 12-0 opening inning lead on Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and ended this junior high softball contest in the third inning, 15-0 Thursday.

 

Lola Hartke and Maleah Coy combined to throw a no-hitter. Hartke started the game and went the first two innings, allowing no hits, no walks while striking out three. Coy came on to strike out two in her inning.

Meanwhile, Neoga finished with a whopping 15 hits led by Maddi Frankie with a single, double, triple and one RBI and Lillian Denson with two singles, a double and two RBI. M. Coy added a double and three RBI while Kenzie Bell had three singles. Keeli McKay chipped in with two singles and two RBI and L. Hartke two singles and an RBI and EmmaRee McTeer a single and an RBI.

At St. Elmo

South Central edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead and went on to end this game via the 10-run rule over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 13-3 Thursday.

The Falcons finished with 15 hits in the contest. Emmie Ruholl tallied four singles and an RBI while Alexa Gile had two singles, a triple and five RBI. Kyndl Bolen added a single, double and an RBI, Claire Chasteen a double and two RBI, Bella McDowell and Skylar Webster two singles each and Ophie Lowry a single and an RBI.

Rylan Williams took care of mound duties going five inings, giving up three runs on six hits, two walks while striking out eight.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led offensivelyby Kadence Speagle with two singles, a double and an RBI and Auni Wollin with two singles and an RBI.

Dieterich stepped out to a 6-0 opening inning lead and never looked back in a 13-3 win over Altamont in six innings Thursday.

Lydia Kreke threw a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and three walks.

Meanwhile, Dieterich had 12 hits led by Nora Wente with three singles and three RBI, Claire Faller with three singles and two RBI, Kreke with two singles and Mackenzie Roedl with a single and two RBI.

Altamont's lone hit was a single by Alyssa Ruholl.

Mattoon had an 11-run third inning and went on to trounce Effingham St. Anthony by a 20-1 count in four innings Thursday.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 after the first inning but Mattoon moved into a 4-1 lead in the second, then tallied 11 runs in the third and finished the game with five in the fourth.

St. Anthony had four hits led by Paylin Wilhour and Mallory Litz with two singles each. Litz added an RBI.

Effingham blanked Centralia by a 15-0 count in three innings Thursday.

The Mustangs banged out 13 hits in the contest while Kendyl Smith held Centralia to one hit, one walk while striking out eight.

Miley Wilson led the way for Effingham with a single, double and an RBI, Liv Koester with a double and two RBI, Smith and MacKynzie Hites with two singles and two RBI each and Alayna Wade with two singles and three RBI. Mady Hoffman added a single and two RBI, Elizabeth Kreke a double and Cloie Bailey a single and an RBI.
