Kendyl Smith and Elizabeth Kreke combined to throw a two-hitter as Effingham blanked Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 13-0 in junior high softball competition Wednesday.
Smith went the first three innings and got the win. She allowed one hit, two walks while striking out five. Kreke came on to toss the final two innings, giving up one hit and striking out three.
The Mustangs edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead then had a six-run second. They tacked on a single run in the fourth and ended the game with five in the fifth.
Cloie Bailey led the way in hitting with three singles and five RBI. Miley Wilson added three singles. Kreke chipped in with a single and three RBI while Liv Koester added a single and two RBI. Smith also had an RBI.
The Hatchets were led by Kalia Friese with both hits, singles.

At Effingham
Neoga ran out to a 7-0 opening inning lead and never looked back in taking a 20-3 win over Effingham St. Anthony in four innings Wednesday.
Neoga finished with six hits led by Maddi Frankie with a single, home run and five RBI, Keeli McKay with a double and two RBI, Maleah Coy with a single and two RBI and Reyna Coy with a single and an RBI. Jenna Jenkins, Chloe Frankie and Mackie White had an RBI each.
Lola Hartke picked up the pitching win, going three innings, allowing one hit with two strikeouts.
St. Anthony had a single and an RBI by Nina Semple. Amelia Janis had an RBI.

South Central pounded out 11 hits and was aided by six Salem Franklin Park errors in a 9-3 victory Wednesday.
South Central took a 1-0 opening inning lead, and held a 3-2 lead after three. The Cougars then put across two runs in the fourth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh.
The winners had 11 hits led by Kyndi Bolen with two singles, a double and an RBI, Emmie Ruholl with a single and double, Rylan Williams with two singles and two RBI, Ophie Lowry with two singles, Annie Ruholl with a single and three RBI, Skylar Webster with a single and an RBI and Bella McDowell with an RBI.
A. Ruholl kept the Bobcats under control, throwing a four-hitter with seven strikeouts and four walks.
