St. A, S. Central, Altamont, WSS Win NTC Tourney SB Openers

Effingham St. Anthony, South Central, Altamont and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg were opening round winners in the National Trail Conference Softball Tournament Tuesday at Evergreen Hollow Park.
Addie Wernsing went four innings on the mound, throwing a no-hitter, not allowing a walk and striking out 10. Nancy Ruholl came on to finish the final inning, allowing no hits, no walks and striking out one.
St. Anthony blanked North Clay/Clay City by a 12-0 count in five innings in the first contest. The Bulldogs had three-run innings in the first and second, scored two in the third and finished out with four in the fourth
The Bulldogs had eight hits led by Abbie Hatton with a single, home run and four RBI while Addy Rios and Hailey Niebrugge finished with two singles and an RBI each.
In the second game, South Central's Taegan Webster threw a no-hitter as the Cougars blanked St. Elmo/Brownstown, 15-0 in four innings.
Webster went the four innings, giving up three walks while striking out 10.
The Cougars had eight hits led by Kinley Swift with a double and two RBI, Percilla Reid with two singles and three RBI and Abi Shuler and Percilla Reid with two singles and two RBI each.
Altamont edged Dieterich in the third contest, 3-2.
The Indians stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead. Dieterich tallied a run in the second but Altamont added a third run in the fourth. Dieterich then had a final run in the sixth.
Grace Lemke struck out 20 on the mound as she went seven innings, allowing two hits and five walks.
Claire Boehm led the Indians in hitting with two singles. Laila Hankins added a single and two RBI.
Kinli Michl had a double for Dieterich.
In the final game of the day, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg handed Neoga a 16-0 loss in four innings.
The Hatchets led off with five runs in the first, tallied one in the second and finished with 10 in the third behind 16 hits.
Kendra Hayes had two doubles and drove in five runs. Alaira Friese added three singles and an RBI, Erin Althoff two singles and two RBI, Mya Friese and Clarissa Johnson two singles and an RBI each and Claire VonBehrens a single and two RBI, Samantha Hayes a single and an RBI and Cameron Carey added an RBI.
Neoga had one hit, a double by Joslyn Brandenburg.
The tournament continues tonight as St. Anthony faces Altamont at 4:15 p.m. and North Clay/Clay City takes on Dieterich, also at 4:15 p.m. South Central meets Windsor/Stew-Stras at 6 and St. Elmo/Brownstown faces Neoga at 6.
The tourney comes to a close Friday with the consolation championship and the third place games at 4:15 p.m. and the championship at 6.

At Teutopolis
Marshall tallied a 6-3 victory over Teutopolis in a contest Tuesday.
The Wooden Shoes held a 1-0 lead until the third when Marshall moved ahead 2-1. T-town tied in the fourth but Marshall tallied two runs in the fifth and two in the six. T-town scored its final run in the fifth.
Marshall outhit the Shoes by an 8-6 count. T-town was led by Cecilia Apke with three singles and an RBI.
Alyssa Tipton threw the victory, allowing six runs on eight hits, no walks while striking out six.
