Effingham St. Anthony trailed Salem 5-2 after five innings but rallied with four runs in the sixth and three in the seventh to pull out a 9-6 high school softball victory Wednesday.

Maddie Kibler led the hitting attack. Kibler finished with four of her team's 10 hits. Kibler had a single, double and two home runs. She finished with five RBI. Addie Wernsing added a single and double while Stacie Vonderheide and Julia Schultz finished with a single and an RBI each.

The Wildcats broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run fourth and held a 5-2 lead after five innings.

Sydney Kibler went four innings on the mound allowing, four runs on three hits, two walks and striking out five. Wernsing came on to throw the final three innings for the win. She allowed two runs on thre ehits, one walk and struck out three.

Salem had one error while St. Anthony finished with two. The Wildcats gave up three walks while striking out seven.

At Farina

Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran took a 4-2 lead into the seventh inning and tallied two more in the top of the frame to lead South Central 6-2 Wednesday.

But the Cougars weren't out of the contest yet. South Central came roaring back with four runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the score and all those runs came with two outs. Amelia Montes singled to lead off the seventh. Kyra Swift and Zoey Feldhake hit RBI doubles. Kaitlyn Swift had an RBI single and Abi Shuler singled to tie the game.

South Central finished the bottom of the eighth with the victory as once again Montes came through. She singled to lead off the eighth and Kyra Swift hit a walk-off double that scored Montes for the winning run.

The Cougars had 11 hits in the contest led by Montes with three singles, Ky. Swift with two doubles and two RBI, Feldhake a double and an RBI, Taegan Webster with two singles and an RBI and Kaitlyn Swift and Shuler with a single and an RBI each.

Webster picked up the win on the mound, going all eight innings, allowing six runs on four hits, nine walks and striking out seven.

At Beecher City

Altamont's Grace Lemke kept Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City hitters stymied the whole game as the Indians won 5-0 Wednesday.

Lemke went all seven innings, striking out a whopping 20 batters. The lone hit was a single by Macee Rodman. Lemke allowed only two walks.

Meanwhile, Altamont put together five runs, two in the third and sixth innings and one in the fifth. Lemke was also on offensively with a double and an RBI while Claire Boehm led the way with three singles. Kylie Osteen added two singles and Brianna Grunloh a single and an RBI.

At Charleston

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg stepped out to a 4-0 opening inning lead and went on to beat Charleston, 10-6

The Hatchets finished the contest with 12 hits. Erin Althoff had a single, home run and drove in three while Cameron Carey ended with a single, double and an RBI. Mya Friese and Ellie Wittenberg had two singles each. Clarissa Johnson finished with a double and Alaira Friese and Kendra Hayes had a single and an RBI each. Zaida Wascher added an RBI.

Windsor/Stew-Stras took a 4-0 first inning lead and led 6-0 in the top of the second. However, Charleston came back to tie the score in the bottom of the second.

The Hatchets then moved ahead with a run in the fourth and tacked on another run in the fifth and two in the six for the winning margin.

Samantha Hayes threw a five-hitter with no walks while striking out eight.

Ramsey took a 6-1 opening inning lead and went on to down St. Elmo/Brownstown by a 16-6 count in six innings Wednesday.

Ramsey had a 6-1 lead after the first inning then scored 10 runs over the next five innings behind a 14-hit attack.

St. Elmo/Brownstown finished with eight hits as Jayna Ireland had a single, double and three RBI, Macey Sapp two singles and Camila Haslett a single and two RBI.

The Eagles had five errors in the contest.

Cumberland came calling and handed Neoga a 20-0 loss in four innings Wednesday.

The Pirates ran out to a 10-0 opening inning lead and never looked back.

Cumberland had 20 hits to go along with its 20 runs. Lib McGinnis had a single, double and an RBI, Katie Kingery and Noraa Cross a single and a triple each. Cross added an RBI. Ashton Tolen a triple and an RBI,  Jade Carr a single, double and an RBI, Avery Donsbach a double and two RBI, Suzy Fritts a double, Mia Holsapple two singles and two RBI and Willow Sowers two singles.

Holsapple went the four innings allowing no runs on one hit and striking out five.

At Neoga
