SULLIVAN -- Teutopolis High School put together a 16-hit attack and handed Sullivan a 12-0 softball loss in five innings Friday.

The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then added on four in the second, three in the third and four in the fifth in a game that ended via the 10-run rule.

T-town's Summer Wall led in the hitting department with three singles and five RBI while Kayleigh Zerrusen added two singles and a double. Olivia Copple finished with two singles and three RBI and Chloe Hoene a single, double and an RBI. Malea Helmink and Cecilia Apke had two singles each and Helmink added an RBI. Alyssa Tipton finished with a double and Olivia Wermert added a single and an RBI.

Tipton went the five ininngs on the mound, allowing no runs on three hits, one walk while striking out eight.

At Mattoon

Cumberland pounded Blue Ridge at the Roundhuse Softball Complex in Mattoon Friday, 18-8.

The Pirates edged out to a 3-1 opening inning lead and led 7-4 after two. Cumberland then had three-run innings in the third, fourth and sixth and two in the fifth.

The Pirates banged out 19 hits in the contest and was aided by four Blue Ridge errors.

Libby McGinnis had a single, two doubles and three RBI for Cumberland. Ashton Tolen added two singles, a triple and four RBI. Jade Carr added three singles and scored four runs. Katie Kingery, Noraa Cross, Shelby Kingery and Jadalyn Sowers added two singles each. Kingery and Cross had two RBI each.Jenna Hougham added a double.

Blue Ridge finished with nine hits.

At Newton

Newton played host to South Central and sent the Cougars home with a 9-2 loss Friday.

The Eagles edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead then had three-run innings in the second and sixth and two in the fourth.

Bailee Fricht led the Newton hitting attack with two singles, a home run and two RBI. Allie Hermann added a double and Lilly Kessler two singles.

Audrie Reich added a single and two RBI while Allie Stanley and Lexie Grove had a single and an RBI each.

A. Collins went the distance on the mound, giving up two runs on eight hits, one walk and striking out four.
