Bulldogs Beat Cougars, Hatchets Fall In High School Softball

Three players were hitting machines for Effingham St. Anthony High School as the Bulldogs ended their softball game against South Central by a 15-4 count in five innings Wednesday.

Sydney Kibler banged out two homes runs and finished with a game-leading four RBI while Ady Rios almost hit for the cycle with a single, double, triple and drove in two runs. Addie Wernsing also was on top of hitting with a single, two doubles and an RBI.

Along with the top three, Hailey Niebrugge added a double and an RBI while Stacie Vonderheide had a single and two RBI and Abbie Hatton a single and an RBI.

Meanwhile, S. Kibler was keeping the Cougars off the bases for the pitching win. Kibler went the first four innings, allowing two runs on two hits, no walks while striking out three. Wernsing came in to finish out the final two innings, allowing two runs on two hits with no walks.

Three of the Cougars' four hits were for extra bases. Taegan Webster knocked out a home run and had two RBI while Zoey Feldhake had a double and two RBI and Kinlee Thompson a double.

At Macon

Windsor;Stewardson-Strasburg took the early lead, but Macon Meridian tied the score in the bottom of the seventh and won it by a 5-4 count in the eighth.

The Hatchets edged out to a 2-0 opening inning lead on Meridian. They then tacked on a single run in the fifth.

But with one big inning, Meridian tied in the sixth at 3-3.

The Hatchets moved ahead in the top of the seventh but Meridian tied again and won in the eighth.

Mya Friese was the big hitter for the Hatchets with a single, double, home run and one RBI. Samantha Hayes added two doubles and Kendra Hayes had a single and finished with two RBI.
