Casey-Westfield Blanks CHBC, C'land Falls In Softball

CASEY -- Casey-Westfield took the early lead and ended this high school softball contest in four innings by a 15-0 count over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.

 

The Warriors took a 5-0 opening inning lead and led 9-0 after two and finished the contest with six runs in the third.

Casey-Westfield had five hits led by Kam Smith with a single, double and two RBI, Kate Yates with double and three RBI and Tristan Ring with a triple and an RBI.

Lucy Moore went the distance allowing no runs on two hits, one walk while striking out four.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's two hits were singles by Birgen Schlanser and Macee Rodman.

Bobcat pitchers gave up a combined 10 walks while the tean commited six errors.

At Robinson

Robinson picked up an 18-10 victory over Cumberland in Monday softball action.

Robinson tallied seven runs in the second and Cumberland tied the score in the top of the third. The Maroons came back to regain the lead in the bottom of the inning, 9-7 then pushed across seven in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Cumberland scored three in the sixth.

Leading the Pirates in hitting were Jade Carr with four singles and an RBI, Noraa Cross with three singles and an RBI, Jenna Hougham with a home run and two RBI and Avery Donsbach, Natalie Beaumont and Shelby Kingery with two singles and an RBI each. Suzy Fritts finished with a single and an RBI.
