CLASS 1A SOUTH CENTRAL REGIONAL

St. Elmo/Brownstown edged Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 5-4  in the opening game of this regional Wednesday.

CHBC took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and tacked on three more to lead 4-0 in the fifth.

SEB came back with three runs in the sixth and tied the game in the bottom of the seventh. The game went into the ninth inning when SEB came through with the winning run.

The winners had 10 hits in the contest led by Holliday with a double and two RBI, Orr, Townsend and Claycomb with two singles each. Townsend and Claycomb had one RBI each. Montgomery chipped in with a single and an RBI.

Speagle picked up the pitching win allowing seven hits.

CHBC was led by Harper Lilly and Allison Shields with a triple each. Shields added an RBI. Hadley Pope had two singles while Brylie Prater had a single and an RBI.

"It was a hard-fought game," said CHBC Coach Kelsey Herrmann. "Both teams left it all on the field, but SEB came out ahead."

In the second game, Ramsey defeated Mulberry Grove, 9-3.

St. Elmo/Brownstown advances to face South Central Saturday at 10 a.m. while Effingham St. Anthony will take on Ramsey at 11:30. The winners advance to Tuesday's championship game.

CLASS 1A HUTSONVILLE REGIONAL

Sigel St. Michael advanced in the Hutsonville Regional with a victory Wednesday.

The Sharpshooters edged Hutsonville, 8-7. They will now face Neoga at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Paris Crestwood pounded Oblong in the other contest, 20-1. Crestwood will face either Dieterich or Martinsville Saturday at noon. Those two teams play today at 4:30 p.m. at Dieterich.

 

CLASS 2A TEUTOPOLIS REGIONAL

Only one game was contested in opening round play of the Teutopolis Regional Wednesday.

Cumberland handily defeated North Clay (Louisville), 12-4.

The winners took a 2-0 first imning lead and tacked on a single run in the third. North Clay came back with two in the fourth but the Raiders scored six in the bottom of the fourth and that was the game.

Cumberland had seven hits in the contest led by Baya Carter with a triple and three RBI, Lauren Schnepper with two singles, a double and two RBI and Kinley McMechan with a double and an RBI.

Brittlin Murphy went the distance on the mound, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks.

Cumberland advances to face Jasper County at 9 a.m. Saturday. 

Teutopolis will face Vandalia at 4:30 p.m. today for the right to advance to meet Altamont at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Class 2A Pana Regional

Two games were contested in the Pana Regional Wednesday.

Sullivan downed Shelbyville Moulton, 11-9 while Macon Meridian edged Arthur, 17-16.

Macon Meridian advances to meet Pana at 9 a.m. while Sullivan will face Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The winners advances to the championship game Tuesday at 4:30.

 

At Moweaqua

In regular season action, Central A&M downed Neoga 5-3 Wednesday

Central A&A scored two runs in the first and three in the second for a 5-3 victory.

Neoga had six hits but committed four errors. Madelynn Frankie and EmmaRae McTeer had one hit and one RBI each. Reyna Coy added an RBI.

Neoga is now 12-7 on the season.

 At Newton

Jasper County played host to Effingham and picked up a 14-5 victory Wednesday.

Jasper County banged out 13 hits and was aided by four Effingham errors.

The winners took a 3-1 lead in the second but Effingham came back to knot the score at 4-4 in the third. Jasper County then had back-to-back five run innings in the fifth and sixth for the win.

Lexie Ghast led the way in hitting with two singles, a double and four RBI while Jeorgia Reich added two doubles, Paige Wagner a single, double and an RBI, Gabbie Flowers a double and an RBI, Emma Inyart two singles and two RBI, Emma Brooks two singles and Maleah Miller a single and two RBI.

Effingham was led by Keagyn Koenig with a single and triple, Madi Summers a double and three RBI, Addi Barnes two singles and Molly Maxedon a single and an RBI.

Ghast picked up the pitching win, allowing six hits, two walks while striking out five.

Jasper County improved to 14-0 on the season.

South Central blanked Centralia, 13-0 in regular season play Wednesday.

The Falcons opened with a 3-0 lead and scored through the next three innings to end the game via the 10-run rule.

South Central had 14 hits while Maddie Peddicord threw a one-hitter with two walks while striking out 10.

Baylee Brown had two singles and two RBI, Peddicord two singles, a double and two RBI, Addie Ruholl a single, double and two RBI, Jayda Neilson a triple, Annie Ruholl a triple and Kyndl Bolen a double.

At Centralia
