ST. ELMO -- Neoga took the early lead and blanked St. Elmo/Brownstown, 11-1 in five softball innings Tuesday.

Neoga led 2-0 after the first inning then had an eight-run second and tallied its final run in the third.

Maleah Coy went the distance on the mound, allowing one run on two hits, one walk while striking out seven.

Rayna Coy had three hits and an RBI to lead the winners.

Neoga now sports a 2-1 record.

At St. Elmo

Dieterich edged out to a 4-3 opening inning lead but Cumberland came back to take a 12-5 win Tuesday.

Cumberland tied the score in the second, then added on three runs in the third, four in the fourth and one in the fifth. The winners improved to 3-1.

Dieterich outhit Cumberland by a 10-6 count but finished with six errors.

A. Garner led Dieterich with three singles and an RBI while A. Niemerg and Faller had two singles each. Niemerg added an RBI. A. Boerngen had a double and an RBI and K. Stortzum a single and an RBI.

Altamont looked headed for defeat, trailing Vandalia 5-1 after five innings.

But the Wildcats came through with a seven-run sixth and tacked on another run in the seventh for a 9-6 victory Tuesday.

S. Long went the distance, throwing a gem. She allowed only three hits, three walks while striking out a whopping 16 batters.

A. Roberts had two singles and drove in two runs while B. Swank had a triple and an RBI. H. Arend and A. Alwardt had a single and two RBI each. A Schnarre added a single and an RBI.

J. Deters and Hoene combined for a no-hitter in a 21-1 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes edged ahead 5-0 in the first inning then held an 8-0 lead after two. The third inning was a 13-run affair to end the contest.

Mattox had three singles and drove in four runs for the Shoes. Ruholl and Probst had two singles and an RBI each.

CHBC had one runner on, Hadley Pope with a walk. The squad committed 12 errors.

Sigel St. Michael came calling and tallied a 6-1 victory over North Clay/Clay City Tuesday.

North Clay/Clay City dropped to 2-1 on the season and will be back in action today vs. New Hope.
