South Central handed Sigel St. Michael a 12-2 loss in junior high school softball play Thursday.

South Central edged out to a 3-0 first inning lead then pushed that to 6-0 in the second. The squad tallied six more in the third for a 12-0 lead.

St. Michael came back with two runs in the fourth but that's where the scoring ended.

Maddie Peddicord was the winning pitcher, going three innings, allowing no runs on no hits and six strikeouts. Addy Ruholl came on in the fourth, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out two.

Peddiecord had a single, double, triple and drove in four runs. Baylee Brown, Claire Chasteen and Kennah Hiestand had two hits each.

At Louisville

North Clay/Clay City pounded Red Hill (Bridgeport) by a 17-2 count in three innings Thursday.

The game was the season opener for North Clay/Clay City. The squad will be back in action Monday against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.
