Hearts Edge Olney in Eight Innings; Regional Scores from Monday

The Effingham Hearts picked up an eight-inning victory Monday over the Olney Richland County Tigers, 2-1.

The Hearts scored a run in the first inning until Olney tied the game in the seventh inning. The Hearts then scored in the eighth to post the victory.

Natalie Armstrong pitched six shutout innings for Effingham, giving up five hits and a walk against five strikeouts. Saige Althoff pitched the final two innings, giving up an unearned run and three hits, didn't walk a batter and fanned three hitters to claim the win in relief.

ODIN/PATOKA/SANDOVAL 4, ALTAMONT 2

Altamont scored in the second and third innings but fell short to OPH, despite outhitting OPH 8 to 4.

Grace Lemke went the distance for Altamont, allowing four runs on four hits and five walks but struck out 12.
