St. A Blanks Altamont, WSS, Newton Win In Softball

ALTAMONT -- Effingham St. Anthony blanked Altamont, 10-0 in high school softball competition Thursday.

The Bulldogs's Lucy Fearday and Sydney Kibler went to the mound to throw three innings each. Fearday was the winner, tossing a no-hitter in her three innings without a walk and striking out five. Kibler came on to throw a two-hitter across her three innings without a walk and two strikeouts.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs had seven hits and were aided by four Altamont errors.

Cameran Rios led the way with three singles and three RBI while Ady Rios had two singles. Fearday added a triple and Addie Wernsing had a single and two RBI.

Altamont's two hits were singles by Grace Lemke and Lanie Tedrick.

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg took the first inning lead and never looked back in a 16-6 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Thursday.

The Hatchets led 2-0 in the first then moved into a 6-0 second inning lead and led 12-0 after three. CHBC came back with a six-run fourth to put off ending the contest early by the 10-run rule.

Sam Hayes had two singles, a triple and drove in three runs for the Hatchets. Kaylyn Carey added a double and three RBI, Leah Casey a double and an RBI and Ella Kinkelaar with two singles. Alexis Gee had three RBI. and Alaira Friese two RBI.

Hayes went 6.2 innings, striking out 12 while allowing only one hit and one walk.

CHBC committed 10 errors in the contest.

The Bobcats were led in hitting by Marissa Summers with a double and two RBI, Addison Wasson with a double and an RBI and Koda Colman with a single and an RBI.

Newton stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and went on to down host Robinson by a 7-2 count Thursday.

The Eagles led 4-0 after two innings then had single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh.

Newton had 11 hits led by Addy O'Dell with a single, triple and two RBI, Avery Mulvey wit a single, double and an RBI, Lilly Kessler with a single and double and Allie Stanley with two singles and an RBI.

Kayla Kocher went the distance on the mound, allowing two runs on two hits, three walks and striking out two.

At Robinson

Teutopolis fell behind early and dropped a 6-3 loss to Highland Thursday.

Highland moved ahead 1-0 in the first and held a 4-1 lead after three then tacked on two runs in the fourth.

The Shoes scored single runs in the third, fifth and seventh.

T-town had six hits led by Emily Konkel with a single, double and three RBI and Courtney Gibson and Summer Wall had a double each.

Highland had 10 hits in the contest.
