Wessel's Ready for 2013 Fastpitch Season; Teutopolis Memorial Tournament Scheduled

Wessel’s Coors Light opened its 2013 men's fastpitch softball campaign recently.

Last year, Coors Light ended the year with a 20th place finish in the NAFA World Series and also won the T-Town League Tournament.  

Coors Light will play about a 40 game schedule with six tournaments. The team will be making a trip to the NAFA World Series in Des Moines, Iowa in August. The tournament schedule includes six very competitive tournaments.

Returning from last year’s team are Sean Lee (shortstop & manager), Chad Buehnerkemper, Gary Niebrugge (pitcher), Jon Lee (second base), John Niebrugge(catcher, outfield), Tim Schumacher (first base), Brent Bohnoff (outfield), Cole Koester (shortstop) and Paul Mersman (pitcher).  

The team has added some youth to go along with their experienced veteran players including Brad Meinhart, Mitch Meinhart, Curran McNeely, Blake Martin, Brooks Inman, Brandon Wasmuth and Alex Schumacher.

Memorial Day Tournament Set To Open Play Wednesday

The Memorial Day Men's Fastpitch Softball Tournament will begin Wednesday at 7 p.m. and run through Sunday, May 26.

The meet will feature eight teams, five from the Effingham area, one from Pinckneyville, one from Villa Grove and one from Indianapolis, Ind.

New this year will be a butterfly porkchop concession special Saturday, May 25. There will be concessions and a beer garden all five days of the tournament.
