CHARLESTON -- Charleston played host to Effingham and captured an 11-5 win over the Mustangs Monday in junior high softball competition.

 

Charleston edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had three-run innings in the second and third and pushed across four more in the fifth.

Effingham had eight hits in the contest led by Kendyl Fearday with two singles and two RBI, Keagyn Koenig with a single and double and Maci Kirk with a single and two RBI.

Charleston had 12 hits in the contest.

At Louisville

It was a huge scoring contest as the two teams combined for 47 runs but Altamont came out a 26-21 winner over North Clay/Clay City Monday.

Altamont edged out to a 4-2 opening inning lead but North Clay/Clay City came back to pull within 13-12 in the second inning. Altamont moved ahead 20-15 in the third inning and finished out with the five-run victory.

Altamont had 13 hits led by Kennedi Schultz with a home run and three RBI, Laila Hankins with two singles, a double and five RBI, Jocelyn Pearcy with a single, double and four RBI, Ella Nelson with two singles and three  RBI and Ada Roberts with two singles and two RBI. Justyce Higgs had two RBI and Regan Kuenstler and Haley Arend a single and two RBI each.

North Clay/Clay City was led by Laurn Snell with a double and five RBI, Jordan Shadle with three singles and three RBI and Sophie Pontious with two singles and four RBI. Avery Romack finished with three RBI.

At Louisville

St. Elmo/Brownstown tallied a 17-5 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.

SEB took a 2-0 first inning lead and led 7-4 after five innings then finished strong with a 10-run sixth.

Both teams had six hits. SEB was led by K. Miller with two singles and three RBI and D. Haslett with a single and three RBI.

CHBC was led by Brylie Prater with a single and double, Brynlie Pope with two singles and two RBI and Jayla Arnett with a single and two RBI.
