Friday Games

Taylorville edged Effingham St. Anthony by a 7-6 count in nine innings Friday.

The two teams were tied at 2-2 after the second inning before Taylorville took a 5-2 lead in the third. St. Anthony came back to tie the score at 6-6 in the seventh sending the game into extra innings. Neither team scored in the eighth before Taylorville won in the ninth.

Emeline Wines had a single, home run and two RBI for the Bullpups while Cali Myers had two singles and an RBI and Claire Kinkelaar single and two RBI.

At Effingham

Effingham blanked Altamont 15-0 in four innings Friday.

Layla McBride threw a one-hitter with one walk, while striking out 11.

The Mustangs stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead, tallied three in the second and four in the third and fourth innings.

Maci Hayes had two singles and an RBI, McBride a double and three RBI and Gieah Schlanser and Aubrey Poe a single and two RBI each. Keagyn Koenig added two RBI.

Altamont's lone hit was  a single by Ada Roberts.

Teutopolis Round Robin

Effingham blanked Flora by a 15-0 count in four innings Saturday at the Teutopolis Round Robin.

Aubrey Poe came up with a four inning gem, allowing three hits while striking out three.

Gieah Schlanser led the way for the Mustangs in hits with two singles and two RBI. Layla McBride had a single and three RBI while Amelia Koester had a single and two RBI. Maci Kirk added two RBI.

Effingham then took a 7-5 win over Teutopolis to win the round robin.

The Mustangs held a 1-0 lead in the third and tacked on three in the fourth. T-town tied with two runs in the sixth and seventh. The game went into the eighth and the Mustangs scored three. T-town came up with one in the bottom of the frame only to fall short.

Effingham had 11 hits led by Geiah Schlanser and Aubrey Poe with two singles and an RBI each. Amelia Koester added two singles.

Poe was the winning pitcher, coming on in relief in the fifth inning and going 3.1 innings allowing four runs on six hits, no walks while striking out four. McBride started the contest and went 4.2 innings allowing no runs on no hits, two walks and striking out four.

T-town was led by K. Borries with two singles and an RBI.

At Kinmundy

South Central hosted a tournament Saturday and ended up finishing second behind Dieterich.

South Central won the first contest 12-2 over Vandalia. Maddie Peddicord threw a one-hitter.

Emmie Ruholl had a single, double and drove in four runs.

In the second game, Dieterich downed Vandalia 10-4.

The championship then went to Dieterich over South Central, 18-13.

Dieterich trailed South Central by a 10-2 count after three innings but came back with six in the fourth, four in the fifth and six in the sixth to pull out the victory.

Dieterich had 12 hits led by E. Meinhart had two singles, a triple, home run and five RBI. Michl added a double, triple and four RBI.  Will had a single, two triples and an RBI.

South Central was led by Brianna Buhanan with three singles and two RBI. South Central is now 11-5 on the season.
