Effingham Junior High School played host to Teutopolis and handed the Wooden Shoes a 13-4 loss in softball action Thursday.

The Shoes edged out to a 3-2 opening inning lead but the Mustangs tied in the second. T-town moved ahead 4-3 in the top of the third but here came Effingham again to knot the score. The Mustangs then had a five-run fifth and finished off with one in the sixth.

Effingham tallied a total of 15 hits in the game. Layla McBride had a single, double, triple and drove in three runs while Maci Hayes had a single, double and three RBI. Tessa Raddatz added a single and double while Amelia Koester had three singles and an RBI and Keagyn Koenig two singles and two RBI.

McBride was the winner on the mound going three innings allowing four runs on five hits, two walks while striking out five.

T-town was led by O. Roley with three singles, K. Hartke with two singles and C. Mette with a double. C. Hoene and K. Borries had a single and an RBI each.

At Findlay

Altamont Junior High School broke open a close softball game with an 11-run second inning and went on to defeat Okaw Valley 17-1 in three innings Thursday.

Sophie Long threw a one-hitter allowing three walks while striking out four.

Laila Hankins had four hits in the contest, three singles and a home run. She finished with nine RBI. Haley Arend had three singles and two RBI while Jocelyn Pearcy had two singles and two RBI, Cecilia Pearcy a double and an RBI. Kennedi Schultz a single and two RBI and Ada Roberts and Ella Nelson two singles each.

At Cowden

Sigel St. Michael came calling and claimed an 11-2 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Thursday.

The Sharpshooters led 1-0 after the first inning but CHBC tied in the second and moved ahead 2-1 in the third. St. Michael came back with four in the fourth then added on two in the sixth and four in the seventh.

St. Michael banged out 12 hits in the contest while CHBC had four hits.

CHBC's four hits were singles by Harper Lilly, Haley Doty, Brynlie Pope and Helena Bowlin.
