WINDSOR -- Stewardson-Strasburg High School edged Windsor 3-2 in the Class 1A Windsor Softball Regional Wednesday.
Kendall Knop drove in the winning run in the seventh inning as the two teams were knotted at 2-2. Madison Quast scored the run. Knop went four-for-four with three singles, a triple and an RBI. She also picked up the pitching win on a six-hitter with four walks and 14 strikeouts.
The Comets trailed 2-1 until the sixth when Lindsay Burton doubled to drive in the tying run.
Lindsay Floyd was the tough-luck losing pitcher throwing a six-hitter with no walks and 15 strikeouts.
Stew-Stras advances to face Effingham St. Anthony for the championship at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Class 1A Cumberland Regional
Oblong edged Hutsonville 3-2 in action Wednesday. Oblong advances to the title game against host Cumberland at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Class 1A Ramsey Regional
Ramsey pounded Morrison 12-2 to move into the title game. Ramsey will now take on top-seeded Nokomis at 11 a.m. Saturday for the championship.
Class 2A Casey-Westfield Regional
Casey-Westfield took a 2-0 first inning lead then added on a single run in the fourth and downed Robinson 3-1.
Lexie Black picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts. The Warriors improve to 23-5 on the season and will now face Teutopolis for the regional championship at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Class 2A Lawrenceville Regional
Fairfield blanked Flora 7-0. Fairfield now advances to face top-seeded Newton at 11 a.m. Saturday for the regional title.
