Hearts Softball Players Named All-Apollo

Three Effingham High School softball players were named to the 2021-22 All-Apollo Conference softball teams.

Saige Althoff, a freshman, was chose to the First Team PItchers along with Mahomet-Seymour's Karley Yergler, a senior, and Charleston's Kaily Wilson, a junior.

Named to the First Team were Mahomet-Seymour's Abbey Akers, a senior, and Brooke Howard, a junior; Mattoon's Ivie Edwards, a senior, and Abbie Morgan, a junior; Mount Zion's Gwen Bender, a senior and junior Kennedy Highley; Charleston's Karah Moore, a junior, and Addison Shrader, a sophomore and junior Cara Farnam from Lincoln.

Named to the Second Team were Effingham juniors Abby and Riley Cunningham; Mahomet-Seymour's Maddie Cortez, a sophomore; Mattoon's Emma Longcor, a senior; Mount Zion's Kayla Schnippel and Anna Cox, both juniors; Charleston's Maci Mayhall, a junior, and Taylorville's Ana Harden, a junior.

Charleston won the conference with a 10-2 record followed by Mahomet-Seymour 8-4, Effingham 7-5, Mount Zion 7-5, Mattoon 5-7, Lincoln 4-8 and Taylorville 1-11.
