South Central Splits DH, CHBC Wins In Softball

KINMUNDY -- South Central claimed one win and suffered a loss in high school softball action Wednesday.

In the opener, the Cougars blanked Flora, 10-0 in five innings.

Taegan Webster threw a two-hitter with four walks and five strikeouts.

Lily Malone had a single, home run and two RBI while Halle Smith added a single, double and an RBI and Jaylyn Michel two singles and two RBI.

In the second contest, Salem blanked the Cougars, 12-0 in seven innings. The Wildcats took a 4-0 third ininng lead then tacked on two in the sixth and finished with six in the seventh.

Salem had 15 hits while South Central had five, all singles by Brooklyn Garrett, Malone, Michel, Smith and Ella Watwood.

South Central is now 17-10 on the season and returns to action today hosting Wayne City at 4 p.m. and Altamont at 5:30 p.m.

At St. Elmo

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City players had their hitting shoes on for sure in this one as the Bobcats downed St. Elmo/Brownstown, 20-3 in three innings Wednesday.

CHBC banged out 20 hits in the game. Macee Rodman had the hot bat with two doubles, a triple and a home run. She finished with four RBI.

Birgen Schlanser had three singles and an RBI while Madison Wojcik had a single, double and an RBI. Marissa Summers and Karlee Smith added two singles and two RBI each. Koda Colman and Addison Wasson had two singles and an RBI each while Ruby Stuckemeyer added two RBI. Zoey Davis had a single and three RBI.

Summers picked up the pitching win, going three innings, allowing three runs on five hits, three walks and four strikeouts.

SEB was led by Kairi Speagle with two singles and an RBI. Dezerae Morlan added a single and an RBI.
